The connector shell is machined from solid aluminium bar stock – not forged or extruded as in competitive designs. Machining has inherent advantages in terms of strength and adaptability. The normal shell finish used, which has a high resistance to corrosion, is zinc cobalt olive drab. It has shell grounding spring fingers.
